Starting in early 2006, Abbicus was known as Behind Enemy Lines. it consisted of the drummer and bassist for the high school jazz band, and other members of the concert band. The line up had Dan Clark and Earl Hawkins on Guitar, Matthew Lavallee on Bass, Takuya Ono on vocals, and a drummer was still being looked for. Dan layed down drum tracks on what was the first song they had ever made "Forever Forsaken." Recorded in Dans basement, and is still up on the internet to this day. In Early 2006, Takuya moved away and Behind Enemy Lines became known as Abbicus. It was Dan, Earl, and Matt jamming in Dans basement for a whole year. Then in 2007 due to to school conflicts the band was put on hiatus, and Ian Ingles filled in for Matt on bass. Then Ian was later removed from the line-up. Realizing it was hard to find a vocalist, Dan asked Matt to fill in on Vocals. Matt agreed, and a notebook worth of lyrics were written for the many songs in progress. Then through a friend, the drummer, Corey Creamer was recruited. He came over, heard the music and was in. After jamming a few times, and songs were actually audible. All equipment was moved to Corey's house for full practices. The puzzle was almost complete, they were just missing the heavy end. Adds were placed on craigslist and myspace. And Dave Lewis messaged us back. Dave said he already knew the songs, he ended up living down the road from all of us, and meshed with our personalities perfectly. Dave added his own mix, to compile with our unique sound. With guitar influences such as Children of Bodom, and As Blood Runs Black, bass lines which complexity rivals that of Iron Maiden, the thrash and heaviness of the drums of Lamb of God , with vocals and gutturals that are on par with Whitechapel, Abbicus makes a show that is packed with energy and riffs that you can move to, face melting solos, and brutal low screams and gutturals. With all songs made and influenced by personal feelings. Every song has meaning to the band itself. This isn't just any music that is made and played, it is performed with passion and loaded with personal metaphors. Something that is rare amongst bands and music today. With their first official show being May 31, 2008. They got second in Jam Solid's Live, Loud, & Local battle of the bands. Two days later, Abbicus was asked to play in the finals for the battle of the band final competition, they must have tied the already established GutBucket, as well as booking another show with Rock Karma the next week. The videos from our performances and practices are on the internet, and we advise you to watch the videos to fully grasp our style. Our fan base is growing, and we have a sound that is not like any other band in Rhode Island. With Abbicus being together for over 2 years, we are proud to say we are finally on the track to going somewhere and are currently working on a demo and willing to play and book any show that is open. We have realized that nothing is ever handed to you. You need to go out there and get it for yourself. If you want it bad enough, you will work to have it. But the fruits are sweeter than the labor. Keep your eyes open, seeing how Abbicus has been playing around local providence in places like the Living Room and Tantric along with the Blue Room in Smithfield. Keep It In the Family and Stay Brutal.
